“To me camouflage is actually a form of drag, it’s just that instead of simulating or performing a particular gender I am ‘performing’ the patterns of the non-human world on my body—and specifically on my face, that body part whose symmetry and features flag me as ‘human’ in the lightning-fast discernment of the oldest parts of the brain. Here we are trying to pass as something more-than-human—there is a traversing of species (at least in appearance) that feels like an echo of the transitions we have made in the human ecology.”
– So Sinopoulos-Lloyd, my life partner and co-founder of Queer Stealthcraft and our organization, Queer Nature
